What is the entry deadline? Midnight, September 30 2021
When are the winners notified? Finalists will be contacted by October 15, 2021. Winners will be contacted by November 1, 2021.
If I am under 18 years old can I still enter a song? Yes, a parent or guardian must sign your entry form consenting with all terms.
Can I submit songs in a foreign language or with portions of a lyric in a foreign language? Yes. But you must provide a translation into English.
Does my song have to be published? No. SU reserves the right to first refusal if you want to pursue publishing your song.
What kind of production/recording is best to present my song? However you choose to present the song, a single instrument and vocal or full blown rhythm section, horns, background vocals, choir and marching band. Our judges are listening for songs, not production style or skill.
Do I have to sing my song? No, get Adele or Sting, Dolly or Garth to sing it if you can. Again, the song is the star.
Will I get a written critique of my song? No. there are plenty of sites that offer that for a few bucks. Because of the sheer volume of entries we do not offer an individual song review. But it’s never a bad idea to get feedback from someone besides your mom.
My song fits several genres. How do I decide which one to enter it in? You know your music best. A great song will find its way no matter what label is put on it. So, choose one and let the song speak for itself.
